"Social Determinants of Health"
Ross Owen is the Health Strategy Director for the largest county in the state, Hennepin County. In this role he provides administrative, policy, and IT leadership aimed at reforms that improve population health. This work is done across Hennepin’s health plan-based accountable care organization, clinics, hospital, public health department, and medical examiner’s office. Prior to joining Hennepin County, Ross worked at the Minnesota Department of Human Services (Minnesota’s Medicaid agency) on health care payment and delivery system reforms for safety net populations. He has also worked as a health services research analyst in the private and nonprofit sectors and maintains an active interest in quantitative research and health informatics. Mr. Owen earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Oregon, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota.
